So, you have been planning to build a new shower box for your restroom. Or maybe you have moved into a new house and you are looking to renovate.

Upgrading an old shower box is a great way to restore your bathroom and it is a job that you can do yourself! We will use a round Calais model to demonstrate. Also, before we begin, always read the instruction manual that comes with the box you are installing and if you have any doubt, feel free to contact a licensed shower installer.

Also, make sure you are up to date with the latest regulations in your area. So, let’s get started on installing that shower box!

Here’s What To Do When Installing Your Shower Box

You might want to take out the shower liner and let it open up because it can get a little bit of memory from staying in an awkward position for too long.

It doesn’t matter what style of shower box you are trying to install; they all have the same principles.

Your walls have to be straight and square. Also, if you live in an old-style house, make sure your building has levelled floors.

  • First off, check the position of the shower tray so that it aligns with the pipeline.
  • Then you’re going to add nogs to support the frame, it provides solid support for the shower liner.
  • Before putting the shower tray in, add silicon to the lower part. We do this to prevent squeaking. Silicon is added to act as a buffer.
  • Then you’re going to add the adhesive to the bottom of the tray. Then let everything sit for 24 hours.
  •  The next thing you are going to have to do is measure and cut the GIB Aqualine. After this, proceed to fix the GIB Aqualine to the wallboard.
  • Now you will measure and cut holes for tapware.
  • Once that is done check the shower liner position. Then mark and cut the shower line. This way you’ll know exactly where to apply the adhesive.
  • Apply silicone sealant at a continuous speed 10mm from the top of the shower tray and at the very end, come down onto the tray and return about 100mm to ensure a waterproof seal.
  • Apply the adhesive and attach the shower liner. After that is done, you are going to measure and fix the wall profiles into the silicon liner.
  • Now it is time to start installing the door frames, adjust and lock the doors into position (attaching them to the wall profiles)
  • Next, we attach seals to the edges of the glass and add the door handles to the glass doors, also attach seals to the door handles.
  • Once that’s done, attach the doors to the rails and apply the inner door seals.
  • Finally, we’ll apply silicone to the bottom of the frame and remove all the protective foam before applying a bead of silicone to the top.

Note that you’d have to wait 24 hours for the adhesive of the shower liner to go off. And there you have it! Your newly installed shower box, which after this article was hopefully easy to install!
